Kirk L. Mccall II, MD

Founder & CEO, Board Certified Psychiatrist

  • Dr. McCall, founder of Intempo Psychiatry, is dedicated to revolutionizing psychiatric care in the Chicagoland area. He earned his medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine after completing a bachelor’s degree in biology with a double minor in chemistry and jazz studies at Xavier University of Louisiana. He completed his psychiatry training at Rush University, where he served as the executive chief resident and earned accolades such as Emergency Medicine Consultant of the Year and Moonlighter of the Year. His expertise spans the full spectrum of psychiatric illnesses. He believes in blending evidenced-based psychopharmacological treatments with targeted psychotherapy approaches to create personalized treatment plans that cater to the unique mental health needs of his patients.

    In addition to clinical practice, Dr. McCall is actively involved in psychedelic research. He’s completed psychedelic training through Compass Pathways and Cybin and is currently working as a lead psychedelic therapist in ongoing clinical trials. He has a keen interest in the potential applications of psychedelics for a wide variety of psychiatric disorders as well as their transcendental properties and abilities to expand consciousness and foster greater connection.

    When not practicing psychiatry, Dr. McCall enjoys watching and attending NBA games, collecting vinyl and sneakers, running along the lakefront, playing the saxophone, exploring Chicago’s vibrant food scene, and spending time with friends and family.
